Dr. Proietti

The best part of my profession is seeing that smile when the braces come off and knowing that I am able to make a difference in people's lives.

My motivation to become an orthodontist began at age 10 when my dentist referred me to an orthodontist.  My front teeth stuck out 11 mm.,  but with orthodontic care, they were straight.  I was not only happy to have nice smile, but was determined to make people proud of their smile.

Pathway to the Profession

After high school, ten years of college seemed too much.  I altered my path from orthondontics to chase a new dream of working on the Space Shuttle Program for NASA. I became a Professional Mechanical Engineer and worked for Lockheed-Martin on the fire protection systems for the space shuttle launch facilities from 1982-1987. This was the most patriotic experience of my life.  Shortly after the Challenger accident, I knew I was ready to rekindle my dream of becoming an orthodontist.

Seven short years of education in California, Colorado, and New York later, my family made the move back to Colorado, and established Monumental Smiles in Grand Junction, Colorado in 1993.
